ViaSat Supplying Korea Aerospace Research Institute with 7.3m Antenna For Remote Sensing and Telemetry
DULUTH, Ga.--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) will provide a 7.3 meter antenna system to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) of Daejeon, South Korea for receiving satellite imagery (remote sensing) and satellite Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C). ViaSat Antenna Systems will install one 7.3 meter antenna system at the KARI headquarters site in Daejeon with a ViaSat dual-band feed for X-band data reception and S-band monitor and control. KARI will use the antenna system to support the on-going development of the KOMPSAT (Korean Multi-purpose Satellite) series of satellites.
KOMPSAT satellites carry electro-optical cameras (EOC), ocean scanning multi-spectral imagers (OSMI) and space physics sensors (SPS). The EOC provides cartography images for creating maps of the Korean territory. OSMI is a worldwide ocean color monitoring program for the study of biological oceanography. And the SPS mission is to characterize the low altitude, high-energy particle environment for studying the effects of environmental radiation on microelectronics.
