Real Estate Financier Steven Vornea Issues Challenge to Community: It's Time to Give Back

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. (Business Wire EON) July 7, 2008 -- During the week, Steven Vornea closes multi-million dollar real estate deals. On Saturdays, he spends his time delivering food to the needy of Westchester County, N.Y.

It is Hillside's objective to meet the needs of the poor and destitute of Westchester and Putnam Counties by not only delivering food, but by fostering friendships
"There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the heartwarming smile of a child when I walk through the door with much-needed food," said Mr. Vornea. "It's my opinion that those who are in the position to give back to the community must do so."

Mr. Vornea, a successful real estate financier based in Westchester, N.Y., volunteers for Hillside Food Outreach, which exists to provide food to those in need throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties. It is their mission to deliver food to people who are, for whatever reason, unable to access local food pantries.

"It is Hillside's objective to meet the needs of the poor and destitute of Westchester and Putnam Counties by not only delivering food, but by fostering friendships," added Mr. Vornea. "It amazes me to see the generosity of so many people and yet we haven't even scratched the surface of what is really needed to help feed the needy of our community."

Hillside Food Outreach is a grassroots 501(c)(3) not-for-profit food pantry established in 1993 to help feed 20 elderly people, in Westchester County, who were in need of food assistance, but were unable to access local food pantries. Today, Hillside has brought together over 350 volunteers to home deliver to over 1650 Westchester and Putnam County residents in need. Hillside provides food assistance to families with children, frail elderly, disabled and housebound individuals.
