Tetra to Launch Whisper EX Filter For Aquarium Fish
Timestrip ‘Smart Label’
Technology Takes the Guesswork out of Filter Changes
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Business Wire EON) July 15, 2008 --
Tetra (www.tetra-fish.com),
the world’s leading brand of aquarium
products, introduces Whisper
EX, a new series of freshwater aquarium filters that will
allow fishkeepers to more easily and intuitively maintain cleaner and
healthier aquariums.
Through the exclusive use of Timestrip
technology, Whisper EX lets aquarium owners know when the carbon
has expired and it’s time to change their
filter. Fish health depends on regular filter changes to remove toxins
and other harmful impurities.
This leading-edge technology is now being used by Whirlpool in
refrigerator filters and in Febreze®
True Air® Odor
Eliminators. Tetra will debut the exclusive use of the technology within
the pet industry when Whisper
EX becomes available at retailers nationwide in September.
Whisper EX is the first of its kind in the aquarium water
filtration marketplace, too, combining eight new patent-pending
technologies, new materials and a physical redesign. The result is a
filtration system that is sleeker, quieter, easier to set up and use,
virtually drip-free, and better at cleaning and oxygenating water.
The introduction of the new filtration system builds on Tetra’s
reputation as a pioneer in aquarium filtration technology and
leverages the legacy of its best-selling Whisper
platform, while enhancing user-friendliness. Set up now involves only
three simple steps, assembly has been virtually eliminated, the filter
pump primes itself, and innovations within the filter make changes
faster, cleaner and easier.
“We questioned every industry concept, best
practice and standard to create the Whisper EX series of aquarium
filters,” said Joseph Roark, senior brand
manager at Tetra, a division of United Pet Group. “By
throwing out the rules, Tetra has created a series of aquarium
filtration systems that are at the forefront of innovation and
create a new standard for consumers and the aquarium filter industry.”
In creating the Whisper EX series of aquarium filtration
systems, Tetra engaged renowned industrial designer Jeffrey Warden
of 1859 Design Inc., who observed aquarium owners in their homes,
watching them interact with their current filtration systems. The most
common findings included people placing their filters in backwards,
flushing debris into aquariums during filter changes and an aversion to
touching expired carbon filters. Warden’s
findings were directly translated into the design and functional
features of the new Whisper EX filters.
