WiMAX Forum® Certification Completes Long List of Industry Leading Accomplishments for Beceems BCS200 2.5 GHz Chipset

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (Business Wire EON) June 17, 2008 -- Beceem, a leading supplier of high-performance Mobile WiMAX solutions, announced today that its BCS200 chipset was among the first group of products that have received the WiMAX Forum Certified seal of approval for 2.5 GHz equipment, putting the exclamation mark at the end of a long list of firsts for this chipset.

2.5 GHz certification is an important milestone for the open and competitive Mobile WiMAX ecosystem
The BCS200 was the industrys first fully featured 2.5 GHz chipset, combining a powerful baseband with a tri-band radio, and has been shipping commercially since June of 2007. Supporting 33 Mbps in MIMO mode as well as 20 Mbps in HARQ mode along with 50 ms hand-off latency, the BCS200 has set a number of performance benchmarks that are still unmatched today, clearly establishing Beceems leadership in the WiMAX ecosystem.

An instrumental part of Beceems extensive base station interoperability development program, the BCS200 is fully feature compatible with the leading mobile network infrastructure solutions. As such, the BCS200 was the first to meet Sprints requirements in December 2007 and was also featured in a number of key Mobile WiMAX demonstrations from Clearwire. Most recently the BCS200 was showcased in FiTels Mobile WiMAX demo at Computex, being embedded in an Acer Aspire laptop. Some of our publicly announced OEM customers include Motorola, NEC, Samsung, Sanyo and ZTE, along with Taiwanese ODMs AWB, D-Link and Quanta.

2.5 GHz certification is an important milestone for the open and competitive Mobile WiMAX ecosystem, said Babu Mandava, Beceems CEO. The performance and maturity of our Mobile WiMAX chipset has already been proven in the field in many of the key Mobile WiMAX trials and deployments around the world. Being among the first to achieve certification gives our operator and infrastructure partners the added confidence to launch commercial service with devices that are now also proven to be fully compatible with all applicable WiMAX Forum profiles and requirements.
